Airport Information:
Airport Information:
The Stansted
Airport is located in Essex County, at a distance of 80
kms. Northeast of the city center of London. It is one of the most
important airports next to Heathrow and to Gatwick and more than 23 million
passengers pass through it every year. Stansted Airport has a single
Terminal and a single track of 3050 meters, although today there are several
projects under study to build two new tracks and the extension of the Terminal
and, if possible, the construction of a New, all due to the great demand that
causes the operation of low cost airlines. Stansted Airport was built as a
military base in 1942 and is the base of operations of companies such as Easy
Jet, Ryan air.
Transport:
Stansted
airport is easily accessible from the city center. The most used means of
transport are trains, buses and taxis.
Travel from the airport to
the city center:
The
airport is located on the ground floor of the building, the train
station. One of the best alternatives is the Stansted Express, as it is
the fastest and most efficient way. The train stations connect the airport
with Liverpool Street Station in the center of the city of London, circulating
with a frequency of 15 minutes in peak hours and half an hour at other
times. The route is approximately 45 minutes and makes an intermediate
stop at Tottenham Hale, from where you can link with the city's subway. The
service runs between 08:00 and 17:00 hours daily from Monday to Friday, ending
the service before the last flight at the airport. If you want to obtain
more information about this means of transport, you can do it by entering nationalrail.co.
A cheaper alternative is
the transfer to the center of the city of London through the buses, and for
this you will find two important companies: Terravision and National
Express. The first one - although it is cheaper than the second one - does
not work during the 24 hours, while the second one offers a lot of services
with good frequency and throughout the day. The departure point of the
buses of both companies is located in front of the terminal in the parking area
and the rates vary according to destination and company.
The
company National Express will take you to Victoria
Station in the center of the city, making two intermediate stops, the first one
on Baker Street and the second in Marble Arch, where you can connect with the
subway line in the city. The journey will take about 1 hour and a half and
the rate is around 23 Euros round trip or 15 Euros, one way. On the other
hand, the company Terravision has two bus lines; the first one will take
you to Victoria Station, in a 75 minute ride and for a cost of 21 Euros round
trip or 13 Euros, one way. The second line will take you to Liverpool
Street in 45 minutes for a cost of 17 Euros if the ticket is round trip, or 10
Euros if it is one way.
Airport facilities:
The Stansted
airport has several ATMs, several local currency exchange and internet,
bars, restaurants and cafes, one of which remains in operation for 24 hours a
day. There are also many stores including tax-free; Slogans, a small
chapel and an office of lost objects.
In
the area of international arrivals you will find information desks and also
has several telephones through which information can be obtained free of
charge, distributed by the terminal. Finally you can also inform you of
various topics such as departure times and arrivals, transport, in the general
telephone of the airport: (0) 870 000 0303).
Stansted
airport is prepared for the reception and attention of disabled people, with
access ramps for wheelchairs, special bathrooms and phones for the deaf and
mutes distributed throughout the airport. There are also lifts and
reserved parking places for disabled people. The buses that connect the
parking spaces with the Terminal are also ready for wheelchair access as is the
service of the Stansted Express, which has seats and bathrooms for disabled
people. For more information about this you can communicate via telephone
to (0) 870 000 0303 or MINICOM (0) 1279 663 725). Some transport companies
like National Express offer up to 50% discount to their disabled passengers.
